The Embodied Journey
Let’s explore your inner landscape, together.
Experiential Healing Informed by Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology
Hi! I’m Julia.
I am a Nurse Practitioner and Mindful Somatic Healing Practitioner based in Oakland, California. Drawing from over a decade of experience in pediatric nursing, in-depth training in Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology, and a dedication to my own healing path, I provide an integrative approach to guiding my clients on an embodied journey toward self-discovery.
My Approach and Values
I aim to be an ally to your inner world, creating a space that feels spacious, loving, slow, and gentle. My style is often described as warm, authentic, curious, soothing, and playful.
My approach and values are influenced by the principles of the Hakomi method:
-
Mindfulness begins with a shift from doing to being. I will assist you in bringing a gentle, non-judgmental state of awareness to your present moment experience, and together, we will receive the gift of your intuition.
-
Bringing unity into the session means that we acknowledge our shared humanity and interconnectedness, within all parts of ourselves, with each other, and with the world.
-
Having a non-violent approach means we will hold deep reverence and respect for the protectors and defenses you have developed throughout your lifetime. Rather than approaching these adaptations as problems to fix, we support them as intelligence key to your survival, bearing witness as they naturally begin to soften in their own time.
-
We’ll trust your process and timing, and that your body, mind and spirit know exactly how to heal. I will simply be there to provide safety, support, and a container for the unfolding to take place.
-
Acknowledging the dance between our minds, bodies, and spirits, opens up possibilities for more freedom and ease in our lives. In Hakomi, the gateway to healing is through the body. As we slow down and explore sensations and impulses with gentleness and love, we invite your body to tell the story of its joy, pain, and suffering.
